{"id":340,"date":"2020-02-20T14:09:07","date_gmt":"2020-02-20T12:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hiitolanjoki.fi\/?page_id=340"},"modified":"2020-10-27T10:57:18","modified_gmt":"2020-10-27T08:57:18","slug":"hiitolanjoki-eng","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hiitolanjoki.fi\/en\/","title":{"rendered":"Etusivu"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>The largest dam removal in Finland<\/h1>\n<h5>River Hiitolanjoki,<br \/>paving the way for new era in river restoration<\/h5>\n<p>Hiitolanjoki River in Rautj\u00e4rvi, South Karelia, is home to Finland\u2019s last remaining stock of original and fully natural landlocked salmon.<\/p>\n<p>Barriers to the upstream movement of migratory fish will be removed and three new flowing rapids will be created.<\/p>\n<p>With a combined descent of 18 meters, the rapids at <strong>Ritakoski, Lahnasenkoski and Kangaskoski<\/strong> will form an exceptionally stunning passage in Southern Finland, which of course will also include the already free-running rapids at\u00a0 Uudensillankoski, Rapukoski and Ali-Juvankoski, located upstream.
